Standard bank and how they treat the elderly, unemployed and unsuspecting! my mother bought a car with standard bank, she is over 60 years and the car was to be settled before she turn 60 years. She always honored her payments despite the odd jobs she did. we bought the car in 2014. My mother was one of those impacted by Covid 19. despite the fact that she did not get any assistance or relief from Standard bank, she continuously paid her vehicle account. she probably missed 1 or 2 payments but always worked to bring the account up to date. the account was supposed to have been settled by November 2021. However this was not the case because of the interest that was billed for one or two payments missed and also for the fact that her account was being handed over to 3rd parties for collections and that resulted in further interest being billed. I have tried to help my mom paying off the account but standard bank made this whole thing difficult. the principal and contract debt has already been paid. Now we are paying off the interest billed by 3rd parties. I have been requesting settlement quotes to pay of the account but none of them provided this. the balance is R9300 and this is only fees from the 3rd parties and interest. My mother is not working and she depends on a government pension of R1800.00. all my 3 siblings are unemployed and are not receiving an income. I tried to pay off the account and support my mother, it is not easy.

Standard bank, please write off and close the account as this has already ran its course. check your books and see how much has been paid already. we living in hard times lets not take advantage of the elderly and the unsuspecting. My mom's sugar levels shoots up as soon as she receives a call from your rude staff telling her that they will repossess the car she paid for over 7 years. its a dutsun go for crying out loud. please close off the account and give her her papers or allow me to pay R 2500.00 as full and final balance of the account.
