Standard Bank allow payments but disallows saving

Wanted to open a tax free savings account before the financial end year but Standard Bank says my account has a ***** flag on it. How can it be as I am using internet banking paymnets, internet shopping with my bank account, paying petrol without it being blocked or me being informed. The absurd thing is the ***** flag only blocks me from saving. payments is fine. I would imagine the opposite should be the case. If a ***** flag existed on my account then I would imagine informing me about it should be the first step but it seems they are too lazy to do this and I have to phone them to ask them to remove it.

At Standard Bank Cotswold I showed in person waiting half an hour just to speak to a consultant. Then get told there is a ***** flag despite me being there in person with my identification. I was promised a phone call early the same day to resolve it or in the early morning. Instead I get nothing. If they could you apply common sense it would be nice.

Thanks it was resolved. Issue was because in the past I reported my ID as ******. I suggest if this happens in future they can give the reason immediately instead of me not knowing the reason.

I received an email yesteday afternoon from Bridget Schofield of San Ridge Standard Bank that I need to just come in and sign a document.for the tax free saving account.

She should have given me to it to sign it on day 1 or day 2 I went to the bank.

I responded shortly afterwards that I would come in lunchtime the next day for the 3rd time. When I arrived she wasn't there but another person Cynthia had the form I had to sign. I was in a rush and signed it but then only skimread through the document afterwards but only realized much information including my address information was incorrect. The street number was swappped arround. the street was misspelt and the suburb mutiple letters were misspelt. The tel no was a very old work telephone number. The cell number field was blank. Also it said I concent to Standard Bank marketting products to me which I had to through dozens of phone calls of saying NO eventually got to stop by creating complaints on hellopeter.

I told Cythia because of the mistakes I need to correct the form I signed. She said no I MAY NOT ammend it and Bridget will correct it only in the system instead. She took the form and dissapeared. I asked another consultant and showed her the copy and she said I should be allowed to ammend the original . When Cythia returned after a while later I told her again I need to ammend it because the information captured by who knows was incorrect. She refused and again repeated that I may not correct the address and contact details. I then had no choice but to scribble out my signature and take the form. I told her I did this because she is forcing me to sign incorrect information by not allowing me to change it. She said No she didn't, but she doesn't understand that by her keeping the signed form and only allowing Bridget to ammend it on the computer system afterwards and not on the form I still have signed an incorrect signed contract which has a addresss so laugably incorrect it couldn't be made by mistake. This laugableaddress have never been communicated to me since opening the account.

Now I have to go to my branch and find out how this could possibly have happened.

I cannot see it as coincidence that all my contact information is incorrect. I can only think this was intentionally done either to intentionally frustrate me or otherwise or the incorrect address details put on as I told Bridget my ID was ****** and that was the reason for the initial ***** check. She took a copy of my new ID and could have used false address info intentionally for ********** puroposes. This is not far fetched considering 2 years ago that a I had to report a Standard Bank employee for ***** after I found out he **** and made false promisises when opening an account after the Bank manager refused to take repsonsiblity for hte employee.. I had to file a formal complaint.. Then to avoid liabilty SB just said it is with legal and they won't inform me of the outcome despite me formally logging the complaint! That in itself showed how blatant open SB is to *****.
