Standard Bank act on clients contract and terminates without his knowledge throughout the process

We have been clients with Standard Bank for almost 5 years and the kind of service and treatment we have received is below par for a public listed entity in Standard Bank Limited. My dad (hereinafter referred to as Mr Siriparsad) has had his vehicle asset finance contract terminated unknowingly, this being for a heavy duty vehicle namely Nissan UD 490 TT.

As stated he has had his contract terminated UNKNOWINGLY meaning he has not received prompts or any other kind of communication to warn him of such termination.

The termination is based on the fact that Standard Bank are of the impression that Mr Siriparsad did not make payment to his account. He has not received any calls from the debts department recently, nor has he received notification of any action against him. This deferred payment however is not the case as Mr Siriparsad has been paying up his instalments continuously and paying extra in that regard. The payments may be a little later than normal due to change in payment terms however the payments nonetheless made. There is proof of payment, stamped deposit slips received from inside the Standard Bank branch itself confirming that Standard Bank have received such monies in the correct reference.

There are many questions to raise regarding the service that the bank is providing which can raise alarm bells for any concerned banker such as myself and Mr Siriparsad.

When payments are made into a standard bank account why aren't the payments allocated into the correct account timeously? - this has affected the payment status.

If there were any such deferred payments recently, why hasn't any standard bank official contacted Mr Siriparsad regarding the payment of this account and explained him what the consequences could be. The bank had enough time to notify us of any mishaps and did not do this.

We have requested a statement on numerous occasions and did not receive one.

We have to contact the bank and be pushed from corner to corner with out actually receiving the help we came for.

Mr Siriparsad contact the legal department was in the end told to do what he wants.

Terminating the contract without his knowledge has come as a surprise.

As stated above the payments were made and we have proof of such payments, so where has Mr Siriparsad money gone to if it has been paid into Standard Banks vehicle and asset finance account? What has Standard Bank done with his payments if it has not been allocated to his vehicles account? This has affected his payment status and in turn caused serious implications on his contract and his overall business activities. The payment has been made to Standard Bank and we should not be liable for the allocations not being properly or timeously made on your side. My question is where has the money gone if it was not received by the Bank as stated.

The bank found that Mr Siriparsad was not making payment to his account but did not contact him to ask him why, or to ask for proof of payment if any payment had been made, instead it was sent to the legal department (again without his knowledge) and his contract subsequently terminated (once again without his knowledge), a couple of weeks down the line he is sent summons for something he does not even know about. All of these implications have impaired our business and personal status in the community around us and we do not find this ethical or good business practise at all.

In a nutshell, Mr Siriparsad made his payments, he has proof of these payments, vehicle asset finance has not received these payments but did not follow up on their customers payments, forwarded his file to legal department without his knowledge, terminated his contract without his knowledge, issued summons on him to his surprise and seriously impaired his personal and business status in the community around him.

Please do something sort this service out.!
