Standard Bank - "a slap and a tickle"

Apart from a saintly personal banker, I feel that the bank has lost sight of who is the service provider! They are quick to protect their staff from corona but do not consider the must vulnerable sector of their customer base vis the elderly. One has stand in long queues (which do not seem to move) outside the bank with no place to sit or relief for the simplest transaction such as collecting a new card! When one tries to interact telephonically, after going through a myriad of selection options one is inevitably put onto an automated response advising one that 'your call is important to us...'! and that due to the current epidemic, some consultants will be working from home and this may cause a delay in response - I still need to figure out why answering the phone at home takes a lot longer than answering a phone in the office?!!!! Apart from my personal banker (who went out of her way to assist, is very polite, friendly, extremely helpful and pedantic in following up) I find the staff arrogant, unfriendly, unhelpful and completely constrained by their own bureaucracy and I believe they will have to re-evaluate their levels of service if they want to survive in the future
