The Standard Bank logo says IT CAN BE!

But it should actually be IT CAN'T BE!

The bank, in its wisdom, has deprived hundreds, if not thousands, of its customers access to convenient ATMs in our area.

It includes the Port Elizabeth suburbs of Charlo, Springfield, Greenshields Park, Walmer Heights, Broadwood, Pari Park, Miramar, Mount Pleasant, Lovemore Heights, Providentia and Salisbury Park.

And to make matters worse is that many retirement complexes are in these areas.

The bank has removed ALL the ATMs at Moffet on Main, Mount Pleasant SuperSpar, Builder's Warehouse, King's Court, Fig Tree Access Park and three at Walmer Park.

The closest available ATM is now at the Standard Bank branch at the far end of Walmer Park!!!! Not at all convenient, especially for the elderley.

How the powers that be came to this ridiculous decision boggles the mind.

Should you wish to draw cash from the host of Absa, Nedbank, FNB or Capitec ATMs -- which are widely available -- Standard Bank will hit you with a whopping cash transaction fee.

I have been a customer of Standard Bank for 56 years and I find the situation totally unacceptable!

Bring back our ATMs!
