Standard Bank - 61 days and no answers!!!!!!!
I would hereby like to lodge a formal complaint against Standard Bank of South Africa.
In 2014 I obtained a Blue Bean Credit Card with account number *** which is underwritten by Standard Bank. In 2015 due to unforeseen circumstances I had no choice but to file for debt review which was accepted. In 2017, I went on maternity leave and the debt review agents issued a 17.3 to all credit providers. Unfortunately, Standard Bank ( Blue Blean) proceeded to hand over my account to Norlam Attorneys who were acting on their behalf. I immediately made the necessary arrangements with Norlam Attorneys and religiously paid my account. In August of 2019, I contacted Norlam Attorneys and indicated that I would like to settle my account. On the 19 August 2019, I received a settlement letter. The settlement had a 20% discount as I was repaying the account before the end of its term. On the 20 August 2019, I made the full and final payment. On the 02 September 2020, I received a paid up letter from Standard Bank confirming the account was closed. On the 25 November 2019, I drew an XDS credit report and noted that Standard Bank had listed a Public domaine/adverse default on the 02/09/2019 – 2 days after providing me with a paid up letter. The adverse listing was for an amount of R2562 equivalent to the 20% discount Standard Bank offered. As per my understanding an adverse domain record is a record of where you have not met your financial obligations and the credit or continuous service provider has followed legal action for the recovery of outstanding debt. Such legal action may include listing an adverse status code also known as Defaults on you or following other options in a Court such as a Judgement. On same date 25 November 2019 I emailed Norlam Attorneys and again on the 28 November 2019. By the 28 November 2019 I was receiving calls from numerous different numbers harassing me at work for payment of the account. The response by Norlam Attorneys was merely to provide me with the paid up letter. On the 28 November 2019, I also emailed Standard Banks complaints department. On the 29 November 2019, I spoke to Marlon Saunders and he provided me with his personal email address to send my query to. On the 17 December 2019, I followed up with Marlon and there was still no response. At this time, I had already engaged with XDS disputes department to assist in removing the judgment. Standard Bank was no help what so ever. On the 27 December 2019 exactly 20 working days after my first enquiry to the complaints department, Marlon responded and asked me for a copy of my XDS report. This document was however attached to my original email of the 28 November 2019. This was the last email from the complaints team. I followed up on the 27 January 2020. By this date, I had again received a letter of demand. This time it was Munnik Basson Dagama attorneys, demanding payment of R2868.84 by the 03 February 2020. It has now been 61 working days since my first complaint with Standard Bank and to date, the account still reflects as active in arrears and open on my credit profile. Please urgently assist. The account should be closed on the all credit bureau systems. Any adverse listing on the account should be removed. I want a full explanation from Standard Bank and an apology. I would like urgent recourse for the treatment
Regards Nicole
