Standard Bank
Last month I swiped my card at the post office for +R1000, I was told that the transaction didn't go through so the card was swiped again. A few days later I checked my bank statement and saw that this amount had been deducted from my account 4 times - twice on the day I was at the post office and twice again the following day. I had not received any smses notifying me of the three additional charges. I went into Standard Bank and was told that I cannot be assisted in the branch because the post office had already banked the money from my account so they dialled the credit card division for me and I spoke to three different people before I finally got some assistance. After a very long phone conversation I was told that I had to fill out a dispute form which had to be emailed to Standard Bank and that the dispute process can take up to 23 working days. A few days later I received a text stating that I'd been reimbursed for the incorrect charge and that the dispute case was now closed. I phoned the bank to explain that I'd been charged for the same amount a further two times and I'd explained this on the dispute form, I was told to wait until the 23 working day period expires.
