Shocking service from Standard banks deceased estate department.
We have been trying to get my Wife's stepfathers account sorted since 27Th January 2026. Our lawyer submitted all the required documents on this date. The deceased estate department rep**** on the 29Th of January requesting all the documents again. They were sent again on the 2nd of February, as the documents they asked for were included in the original mail. The lawyer then followed up on the 23rd of February as he had no feedback. He was then informed that they could not open the PDF.s, even though all of us could open the same PDF’s that were sent to the bank. (Why no feedback if they couldn’t open them from the 2nd of February?) Our lawyer then rep**** on the 24th of February and sent the documents again on the 3rd and the 11th of March. Received a reply only on the 23rd of March to say documents are accepted. Now it is supposed to take 30 working days again, but the documents have been there for 3 months. This is very poor service especially when it comes to deceased estates, which are already emotional for the families to deal with.
