Shocking service from Standard Bank.
For many years I have been receiving my credit card statement by e-mail from the Standard Bank and my e-mail address has not changed. In April I did not receive a credit card statement and phoned the credit card division and spoke to a young lady who said that she would forward the credit card statement to me that day. I never received it. I phoned the credit card division again the following day and failed the security questions test so I asked to speak to the supervisor. After holding on for a while I cut the call and phoned again. A polite gentleman advised me that he could not assist because I had failed the security questions, but he would ask the supervisor or team leader to phone me. I received a call and was advised that as I had passed the questions on the Monday she would personally ensure that another copy of the credit card statement was sent to me. I again did not receive this and as I receive all other e-mails, including a huge number of ********** e-mails from supposedly Standard Bank, I called in to see the Branch Manager, Nwabisa Mweza, at Greenstone branch. She took down details and checked the contact log in the system and advised she would personally send a copy to me and reverse the charge of R65 that the bank had debited me with for a copy of the credit card statement that day. I did not receive the e-mail. I saw her again the following day and we ascertained that the statement she sent to me from the portal had not reached me, but the one she copied, scanned and sent to me via her computer did in fact reach me. For me it was obvious that the fault lay with Standard Bank's system. But the saga does not end. In May I again did not receive my credit card statement, and went into the bank to see Ms Mweza. She was most helpful and she phoned the credit card division. After a lot of discussion they told her that she should contact the IT division (why it was her responsibility and not theirs I do not know). She did this whilst I was sitting in front of her. Well, the upshot is that a month later I still do not have a credit card statement for May (should have been received around the 22nd of the month). A further annoyance is that I pay my credit card in full every month and it is automatically taken off my cheque account so without a statement I have no idea what the charges are for. I also tried contacting the customer complaints section of the bank and was told that I would receive a confirmation reference number - of courser, never received. All dates of contact can be verified by Standard Bank. And to compound matters, when I try to send the ********** e-mails to Standard Bank's phishing section, I get this message: "An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 2549cOOV006262 This message has been blocked for containing SPAM-like characteristics.. Please check the message and try again." I think I have ample reason to be highly annoyed and frustrated.
