Shocking Service
I am writing this for Mrs W A Pretorius who is computer illiterate. Let me state from the outset that I am aware that Covid has had the effect of causing some delays. However Covid has absolutely no bearing on total and absolute incompetence
My Husband passed away on the 14th April 2020. He was a very secretive man and I was not aware of his earning or any of his Bank accounts, credit cards and investments and these only came to light during the period I was trying to make head or tails of his affairs. Standard Bank Jansenville was notified by hand delivered letter of his death on 9th June 2020. This then seemed to lie dormant at Standard Bank until the22nd January 2021 when I personally went to the bank to ascertain what was happening and to request details of the accounts that I had managed to establish he had. At this meeting I asked the bank for statements on the account from the date of his death to the current date as it would appear that debit orders etc. had been actioned after his death. I also requested that they check to see if he held any other accounts and if there was any credit insurance on loans, overdrafts and credit cards. Now the litany of absolute incompetence and poor service really begins. 22.01.2021 Standard Bank Jansenville closes an account and instead of placing the balance in an account in the name of the estate they open it in my name. 16.02.2021 I request the same information from *** 18.02 2021 Nyeleti Shimange replies that the death must be logged with the Deceased Estates Department 19.02 2021 after hour of trying to find the said department I discover that it does not exist on the Standard bank Portal. So an email is sent to ***. No reply to date. 08.03.2021 followed up with *** 23.03.2021 Mjiak0,Xolani advises that” Our Deceased Estates Portal is currently offline As an interim solution, whilst we working on getting us back online, all new requests can be emailed to us at ***” It is important to note here that this is not a new request. 24.03.2021 an email is sent to Mjiak0,Xolani with the following content: How many more times does one have to explain this:
All I want to know is:
DID THE ABOVE PERSON OWE YOU ANY MONEY ON ANY ACCOUNTS, LOANS, CREDIT CARDS AND WAS THERE ANY CREDIT INSURANCE ON ANY AMOUNTS HE MAY HAVE OWED YOU. Surely this is easy enough for even the most junior clerk at Standard bank to answer and reply to.
YOU ARE NOT HANDLING THE ESTATE!!!!!!!!!!!! 24.03.2021 Mjiako, Xolani replies with a cc email that this has now been forwarded to ***. To date Standard Bank Deceased Queries has not bothered to reply. On at least 3 occasions I have used Standard Banks share call number. On being asked which branch I wanted to speak to I said JANSENVILLE only to be put through to Graaff Reinette. Each time I asked the lady there to pass on a message to Jansenville which she promised to do. Still waiting for Standard Bank Jansenville to contact me. As a matter of fact each time an email was sent to Standard bank certified copies of the required documents were attached I am a pensioner and cannot afford the share call costs and it is obvious that the system does not work. It is disgusting that Standard bank can expect old age pensioners to bear these sorts of costs particularly when they themselves are so inefficient. I will never recommend them to anyone STANDARD BANK ……………… HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
