Shift to Shy(f)t

Standard Bank is forcing all its customers to move ro Shyft and talking nonsense about the so-called benefits of Shyft. Who is Standard Bank trying to fool?

I can now not see the shares I own, nor their current prices on the JS, nor information on dividends, nor a way to manage my portfolio in any way.

Imagine sending me an SMS to congratulate me for being forced onto Shyft and not being able to do a thing with it and not being able to access my own money. Does Standard Bank think it is legal to send customers access to their portfolios?

Dear Eugene,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We can confirm that the migration from Online Share Trading (OST) to Shyft is a legitimate Standard Bank migration initiative. This forms part of the bank's broader strategy to consolidate its investment and trading platforms into a single, integrated solution, providing clients with a more seamless experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

To ensure that your investments remain protected on a modern, secure, and future-ready platform, Standard Bank is migrating eligible Online Share Trading accounts to Shyft, our global forex, payments, and investment platform.

This move reflects our commitment to making investing and trading simpler and more accessible by offering competitive pricing, instant funding capabilities, and access to both local and global markets, all within a single platform.

Clients included in the migration receive direct communication via email and SMS regarding their migration schedule. Your "last day to trade" will be communicated to you in advance, after which your account will be temporarily locked for approximately two days to facilitate the secure transfer and settlement of your investments. Once the migration is complete, your portfolio and cash balances will be available on Shyft.

Should you require any further information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let
Kindest regards,
Standard Bank Hello Peter Team
