Shared Personal details with 3rd party without permission

I received a call from KSS Cellular (+ ********** 6868)"on behalf" of Standard Bank wanting to market services to me. On requesting them to remove me from their database they were unable to comply. I ask where they received my number and they said from Standard Bank. I requested to speak to a supervisor and after waiting for 5 minutes this was not forthcoming. How are they permitted to use Standard Bank as permission and why did Standard Bank allow my details to be shared. In contravention of POPI. Unacceptable.

Reviewer Update
on 1st March 2018: I received this reply from Standard Bank "Good day Mr Robinson, Ref: ********** 386 We refer to your previous comment and would like to apologise for the time take to respond. Our investigation reveals that since 2014/02/16 the Marketing Consent under your profile is reflecting as ‘’Yes’’ hence the reason why you would have appeared on the report for a registration call by the outbound contact centre. We have since asked one of the bankers to change the consent to ‘’No’’ and report this to the Privacy office. We wish to apologise for any inconvenience this matter has caused you." On 1st March 2018: I have subsequently written back to Standard bank requesting them to supply me an audit trail of who changed this " Marketing Consent" indicator as it was not myself. They have as yet not rep****. I suspect that they will not be able to supply this.
