shady dealings.

i settled my blue bean credit card in 2016 around October and November after paying the settlement amount i called them to cancel, they assured me that it was cancelled and even advised me to cut the card on the strip. to my surprise this year(2017 ) in June i get an sms from standard bank saying i was owing the same credit-card which i cancelled and which i was assured that it was cancelled and they have handed me to their debt collectors, i told MBD that i do not owe standard bank and when i called them they said there was an insurance linked to the same card that was still active. my problem is that when i called to cancel why was not advised of the insurance when i cancelled, insurance is a prepaid service meaning no payment no claim but they leave it to be active for 7 months, no statement sent to me during that time to notify me of that outstanding balance. i called them to complain about this i was sent through to the complaints department who in turn came back to me and said i was liable. i am not happy about this because if they had advised me as a customer i would have cancelled this insurance. i don't see the point of having an insurance which is linked to the main product active after that product has been cancelled, it does not make sense. i am really an unhappy customer i am even thinking of changing banks. if this is not sorted i will move to another bank.
