Settlement amount outrageous

I've been under debt counselling since 2011. Every month I diligently pay my accounts, i've never once skipped a payment. In December I requested a balance on the account and the amount provided was R1126.07. <br> Today I called to get the settlement balance as I want to settle the account and was told the amouont due is R2760.00. How on earth can the amount increase by more than 50%. WD Attorneys told me that the December balance was given under a discount which no longer applies. Even so, it doesn't make sense. I started this account with an outstanding balance of R5500. After 3 years how can the amount be so high.<br> Debt counselling was the worse decision i've ever made. It's clear that the creditors are not willing to accommodate debt counselling clients who are committed to servicing their debt... albeit over a longer period.<br> Highly disgusted!!
