SERVICE REQUEST NOT ATTENDED TO, CALL IN FOR ASSISTANCE AND BANK IS OFFLINE

My husband and i bought a home almost 2 years ago. About 6 months after we bought the house my husband lost his job. He went to standard bank to find out what his options are with regard to the monthly instalments as he was looking for another job. He was told that there is a grace period which would be able to assist homeowners for a period of 6 months but it can only be app**** after 1 full year of instalments being paid. We had started using our savings towards the monthly instalments. It is now 1 and a half years later and my husband has not found a stable job as yet. He went to the bank again for assistance. He was told that we have not defaulted and we could get assistance once it falls into erriors. All my husband wanted is to make some sort of a payment arrangement or to get a grace period. We had to sell his car to make this months instalment as he was given a service request number over 3 months ago and has not received any feedback from standard bank. When i called in to follow up, the bank is offline. I am so disheartened that we received no assistance when we needed it the most.
