Standard Bank Cheque account: My Updates for purchases while on Holiday in Namibia June/July 2019: I opened my debit card for use in Namibia for the period 9 June to 21 July and my cellphone was also on roaming for this specified period. Whilst in Namibia I used my debit card for a few purchases, as well as my FNB credit card and Virginmoney credit card. During this period I received all the sms’s iro my FNB and Virginmoney card but NONE iro of my Standard Bank card. Debit orders included there were 10 sms’s that I did not receive. When I returned from Namibia I emailed the Complaints Resolution Centre of Standard Bank on 24 July 2019 and included screenshots of the sms’s I received from FNB, Virginmoney as well as other advertising etc during this period and enquired as to the reason why Standard Bank did not send me my sms’s. I received a reference number *** and that a call was logged with their IT dept. The reply form their IT was : “The clients cell phone do not pick up the network” I then wanted to know how they can say my phone did not pick up the network whilst I did receive other sms’s during that period. Their reply was “ Please note that to follow up on why the phone didn’t pick up the network at that time you need to check with your network provider”. On 9 August I emailed again to tell them that it seems they do not understand what I was saying as I gave them proof that my phone was on roaming and did pick up the network. As I did not receive any reply by 19 August I took the matter further on direct message on facebook with Standard Bank. A reply was that on their side they sent the sms to the network provider and they release the sms to me. I then set out the problem to Mtn, my network provider, who rep**** as follows: “Please note that as you were able to receive all other sms’s besides those coming from Standard Bank , your issue is not network related and will therefore need to be redirected to Standard Bank’s technical team for further assistance” I then again contacted Standard Bank via direct message on 28 Aug on facebook . Again they did not understand the problem so I copied my email dd 19 August to them. On 5 Sept I again asked for feedback and again they told me about sending it to the network provider and if I don’t have network then the sms won’t get to me. So again I gave them proof that I did have network and that I did receive other sms’s but not theirs. But they seem not to take that into account and no reply forthcoming. Now I am fed-up…how do I get an answer to this? And I need to say that the same has happened previously whilst visiting Namibia, unfortunately I do not have this info any more as my laptop crashed last year.
