Rogue future-dated payments by Standard Bank, every month!

Never set up automated, future-dated payments to any of your Standard Bank beneficiaries, using Internet banking! The Standard Bank Internet Banking web application and Android app appear to have a flaw, allowing this schedule to keep running unchecked. Notably, when one sets up a future-dated payment to a registered beneficiary like the City of Tshwane, no link or reference to those future payments will appear anywhere on your app dashboard or your app. You will have no way of viewing or editing the schedule, and you will be powerless to prevent unnecessary payments from going off. Since September last year my cheque account has been automatically debited R882 by Standard Bank on the 7th of every month. Despite numerous calls to several Standard Bank divisions, it appears I still have no way of stopping this!

My sincere thanks to your team for assisting me. The problem was caused by a card which was no longer linked to me banking profile, but which had not been deactivated. Apparently this permitted a schedule of unwanted payments linked to that card to carry on unabated, like a zombie.

Sadly, I have to report that, despite all efforts from everyone involved, when the time came for the errant future-dated payment to run, it did. This, despite the fact that the beneficiary was deleted from my banking profile and the lost card was properly stopped. Luckily, the internet banking system failed to debit my account, but Standard Bank's servers did notify me of the failed payment, stating that it could not be completed because of an error. My zombie future-dated payments are still alive...
