Ridiculous Credit Policy which is unacceptable

Despite payment, I have received an sms stating i am in arrears. Taj hotel credited my account as I paid with my other cards. i had a credit with the Taj as I already paid for other services and requested they pay the money into my credit card. I didn't pay the monthly payment into my credit card as I thought the credit from Taj will cover my monthly payment due. but now I'm told The credit from the hotel is not accepted as payment towards my monthly payment due, which in my opinion is absolutely ridiculous and just doesn't make sense.
