Standard Bank Customers beware. Standard Bank re-issues bank account no's after you have closed an account!. I closed my current account no. 072 581 328 (which I had for over 35 years) a few years back and changed to a savings account. Someone inadvertently used my old account to make a R4,000 deposit. Not only did Standard Bank take forever to follow up (the payer spent hours at the bank and has three different query references!) but the account no. now belongs to U N Nyathi.
