Retrieving funds from a CLOSED ABSA account

Previously this year I mistakingly made a payment to an ABSA account that was supposed to be closed at the end of 2006. The money disappeared to a place where both Standard Bank and ABSA cannot tell me where it is at. I went to Standard Bank one day after the payment was made and they told me the money would bounce back, because the account it was paid to has been closed. I went back after three days. <br> The consultant was very helpful, and logged the problem and a trace has been put on the money. After three weeks, I got a call from someone at Standard Bank stating that I need to go to ABSA, because the funds could not be collected from outside of the 'closed account'. So taking off work I went to ABSA and they told me that the account is closed, so the money should have bounced back. If, however, I need to check the CLOSED account I need to speak to the account holder which is my dad. I brought him along the following week. I was told to go back to Standard Bank because they need to trace the money. I went back to Standard Bank where they again put a trace on the money and someone responded that the 40 day period for tracing the money is over. Still don't have my money.
