Request to cancel account ignored

After 3 months of trying to cancel my account with Standard Bank while out of the country, I have finally decided to post a complaint due to the lack of service. I was told told by Standard Bank to send a signed letter with a copy of my identification to cancel my account. This was sent via tracked post to ensure it made it to the branch. It took a month to get any progress on the issue and Standard Bank are still charging me for the monthly account charge including interest on the charge. I have wasted money making numerous international calls with no progress on the matter. Standard Bank would prefer to stall the process as much as possible to sc**** the barrel to get bank charges where they can, rather than sort out a simple request that I have followed their instructions to the letter to finalise.
