R155 Penalty Honouring fee to honour R15

I am formally disputing the R155 honouring fee charged to my business account on 11 February, relating to a R15 parking transaction made on 8 February.

On 8 February, I transacted multiple times from this account without any issues. There were sufficient funds available at the time, and I specifically checked my balance before making the R15 parking payment. My account was never overdrawn.

The explanation that there were “insufficient funds” is inaccurate. If that were the case, the transaction should have declined. Furthermore, my account does not have an overdraft facility, so I do not understand how an “honouring fee” can be app**** to an account that is not authorised for overdraft in the first place.

For clarity, transactions on 8 February included amounts of: • R651 • R105 • R20 R15

All of which were processed successfully on the same day.

I was home on 11 February and did not transact on that day. Charging a R155 honouring fee for a R15 parking transaction, when sufficient funds were available, is unreasonable and disproportionate.

Previously, I overlooked similar honouring fees, but the frequency has now become excessive. I make provision before every purchase on this account, and this appears to be a system or process issue on your side, not mine.

Additionally, being told by your staff member and her senior that I am welcome to “take my business elsewhere” is deeply unprofessional and unacceptable, especially when raising a legitimate concern about charges on my business account.

I request: 1. A full explanation of how this honouring fee was calculated. 2. A reversal of the R155 charge. 3. A review of the conduct of the staff involved.

If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will consider escalating it formally and reviewing my banking relationship accordingly.
