Quick to service when it is to their advantage.

On the 15th of Sepetem I got a call from Standard bank to inform me that I exceeded my credit limit on my Credit card. I made an arrangement to pay R141.00 on the 23/09/2016. When I got my statement on the 20th I realized that even after the payment I would still be exceeding my limit (This after the agent told me R141 would be enough to bring the card back within limits). I called Standard Bank and asked the agent how much I needed to pay to settle the account and she gave me an amount of R1321, she told me that I need to pay it and then call back to that number ********** 807 to close the account. On the 23rd I all of a sudden got an SMS stating that I agreed to pay R1320 (I never agreed to pay this amount and was only enquiring), never the less, I paid R1321 on the 23/09/2016. Today I called the ********** 807 number and it got answered withtin a couple of seconds. I told the agent that answered I wanted to close my account and he put me on hold for close to half an hour. I decided to hang up and tried again to call the normal customer service number and again I was put on hold for about 20 minutes.

Is this how it works? When a customer wants to pay the calls get answered almost immediately, but when they want to close their accounts or have customer service enquiries they have to wait forever to get through to a consultant?

As you are a "company that responds" here on hellopeter, let this serve as my immediate notice to close my accountas I am unable to do it through your normal channels. I will therefor NOT be liable for any further fees, service fee or any charges to my account.
