I paid for a console that I bought from a friend in PE. Unfortunately he gave me his old savings account number: *** instead of his new cheque account number: ***.<br> This is where things go downhill fast. Standard bank informs my friend that his old account number has been reallocated and that I will have to to proceed with a credit recall with my bank Absa but of course getting the money back is not guaranteed because somebody else now owns the account. This to me sounds very ***** on Standard banks part especially since the account originally belonged to my friend. I have been told by my bank Absa that it will take up to 3 weeks for a response from Standard bank and another 3 weeks for a \possible"recall. So a total of 6 weeks waiting time. This is unacceptable. If Standard Bank do not reverse the EFT as soon as possible I will go to the Ombudsman on Monday. I am unhappy with Absa's efforts as well and will be reporting them on HelloPeter and the Banking Ombudsman as well as both banks are blaming the other and not doing anything to remedy the unacceptable situation quickly. I will open a case of theft with the police if the new account holder refuses to return my EFT."""
