Pushed to default as no assistance is offered
I have had a vehicle financed by the standard bank since November 2015 with an installment of R6500. I have been paying the said installment with defaulting. My balloon payment of R105 000 was due November 2021 and I was unable to pay-off the balance and contacted the bank. I was offered an option to restructure the payment and I chose a six months plan which increased my installment to R17800. I have been paying that amount since last year and this month (May) is my last installment to settle my car. I have a challenge this month and will not be able to settle this amount, however, I can settle in June when I receive my bonus. I then called the bank on the 5th of May to inform them and ask for possible solutions to aid my situation. I was advised that my account is not in arrears and therefore collections department cannot assist me (which makes sense). I was advised to apply for a payment holiday for the month of May. I submitted all the required documents. I was called by a lady called Andile to inform me that my application was declined because i do not qualify for a payment holiday because this is my last installment. She advised me to contact collections department and i refused. What are they collecting because my account is not in arrears? So you would rather have me default on my payment and dent my credit record for no reason? I do not believe that the is no solution that you as my bank can offer me. I am not asking for you to write off my debt but rather for me to settle it next month. I have paid this account for the past seven years with no issues and today when i have a challenge you are not willing to assist me? Restructure the remaining amount then but do not tell me about the collections department when I am not in arrears. I am very disappointed as I thought I will get assistance or a solution and not just "your request was declined" and no further assistance is granted. There should be a solution to this challenge that I have and defaulting on my payment is not one of them. This will definitely be the last car financed by you, I will definitely take my business else where should I purchase another car in the near future. The only thing that matters to you is gaining through the interests that we pay and that's it. Selfish!
