Proving Personal Banking Information to 3rd parties
Dear Standard Bank,
I've been receiving multiple calls over the past month from an Ignition Group call centre claiming to be calling on behalf of Standard Bank Mobile and attempting to sign me up onto a contract.
1. In terms of the POPI Act, why are disclosing my details to a 3rd party organisation? 2. The call centre agent does not disclosed that he does not work for a 3rd party. Why? 3. He/She states that the call is being recorded. When I ask if I can be provided with a copy of the recording they state that the recording cannot be provided. As a financial services provider, who is using a 3rd party to sign people onto a contract telephonically should both parties not have access to the agreed terms and conditions? 4. In terms of POPI and various other financial services acts and regulations are you allowed to disclose my personal details including banking details to 3rd party organisations?
Regards, Amish
