Process of refunding money retained by cash accepting ATMS
On Monday the 25th of April just after 6 am, I wnet to the Atrium close to no 3 Simmonds street to depost cash via the standard Bank cash-accepting ATM into my Saving account in order to cover for some debit orders. I had over R10 000 and some bills were R50's and R100's so I decided to deposit the R100's and R50's first - the deposit of R2900 was successsful. As I got the R200 notes ready, the ATM went offline and I had to wait in the line as someone was already the ATM which became available - she made a cash withdrawal. There was only one working ATM as the ATM custodians were busy servicing the other ATM's. I entered the details for my savings account and inserted the R200 notes. The screen showed a message that I inserted invalid or folded notes and spat out a slip stating there was a technical error. The money did not come back out of the ATM. I waited a minute and then called the guard (guadring the ATM wile the custodians were servicing the machine - he told me he could to nothing but would call the cusodians. The cusodian told me to log a call which I did. This was the same ATM which previously retained R2000 of my money earlier the year and I waited 5 days before logging a hellopeter complaint - my money was refunded on the 6th day. I have now resolved to NEVER use the cash-accepting ATMS of standard bank EVER again. I logged an ticket Monday morning. I follwed up with the bankers working with my portfolio. I waited, and waited. Friday I had no feedback and no money. I received a call fro them indicating that they would escalate the ticket. Friday I got an SMS that the ticket was resolved, but no money back Friday or Saturday. Saturday two of my debit orders got reversed as I am on a tight budget. I uncurred fees of R110 rand (at staff rate) (one of the debot orders was for a donation for R90.) Tuesday I heard nothing back and emailed the bankers who has been working very hard to get my money back - I do need to take my hat off to them, but still there are no results. Yesterday they escalated the ticket, but then the second ticket got closed. Still no money. Tuesday I got an SMS that my bond payment did not go off. My credit record got another knock and yet no money back and no feedback - Despite the hard work the bankers did to try and help me I feel I need to get this message out there that depositing money into these ATMS is a huge risk.
