Poor service from Standard Bank

Today, at month-end, I visited my local branch to withdraw cash. The security guard did not notify anyone of any issues. I attempted to use two ATMs—both accepted my PIN and prompted me to enter the withdrawal amount before cancelling the transaction. Upon entering the branch, I was informed that the middle ATM was experiencing problems. I then tried the third machine without success. After seeing someone withdraw cash from the first machine, I joined the queue again and tried to use it, but it failed again. I returned to the branch and waited alongside more than 20 people. During the 20 minutes I spent waiting, only one person was assisted. I observed one consultant cleaning the photocopy machine’s screen, but the process was inefficient given the number of customers waiting for service. He walked twice, once to fetch a wet wipe and then toilet paper to dry the screen. Ultimately, I cancelled my turn and went home to contact support using the number provided on the app. This number was no longer in service and was flagged as potential spam or *****. After calling again to obtain an updated contact number, I spent 24 minutes on the phone and was informed that there was a technical issue with the ATMs. I was then advised to use a method I am unfami**** with: withdrawing funds at Checkers using my card. I contacted my personal banker via the app to inquire about opening a USD account in preparation for incoming funds. While I am waiting for her response, she has kindly offered assistance with financial planning. Additionally, I am searching for funds that were transferred by a consultant who opened a new account for this purpose, but I have been unable to locate these monies. Given my longstanding relationship with Standard Bank of over 25 years, I am concerned about recent experiences at the Pretoria North branch and would appreciate prompt assistance in resolving these matters.

After a full week of going back and forth, I’m once again standing in a queue today, hoping this bank can finally resolve the ongoing list of issues. What makes this even more frustrating is that I can still make purchases, which proves that both the PIN and the chip are working. So how can they claim that either of them is “incorrect”?
Last Saturday, the consultant gave me an indication of what the problem might be. But now I’m told that the recording of that conversation is “protected,” and that I would need a court order just to access it. Meanwhile, the people who keep calling me insist that the card’s PIN must be reset. When I tell them the PIN works, they shift the blame to the chip—yet the chip works too, and when a Speedpoint terminal requests my PIN, it accepts it without any issue.
It really feels as though Standard Bank goes out of its way to shield its *********** employees. You are told that you can request the call recordings, only to discover that accessing them requires going to court. This is completely unreasonable and shows how little accountability there is.
