POOR SERVICE FROM STANDARD BANK.
HI, I am from Pietermaritzburg and on the 22nd of September i decided to go up to Escourt to purchase a vehicle from there. The funds to purchase this vehicle was coming from my credit card and my wife's credit card. I have my credit for quite a long time now and it is linked to my cheque card.
My wife ( Neriksha Soobrayan ID Number ********** 291081 ) was collecting her first and new credit card on that very same day.
We went into Standard bank pietermaritzburg ( Raisethorpe branch ) to collect my wife's new credit card. Once the card was collected at customer services we asked the lady helping us to link my wife's credit card to her cheque card and vice versa. We also explained to the lady helping us that we are going up to escourt to purchase a vehicle and we are scared to carry 52 thousand rand cash with us so can we add the seller’s account number as a beneficiary to our accounts therefore we can can go to an atm and transfer the money. the lady at standard said "no she cannot add a beneficiary from her side and we must do it on the standard bank app".
I then told her we do not have the app and we did not use the app before. I then downloaded the app in front of her and she confirmed it is the correct app. I then asked her are you sure i will be able to transfer money and change limits from this app and she said yes it will work fine with no problems. I then said must i rather just draw the cash out as i do not want to drive all the way and then discover that the app is a problem.
The lady said we will have no problems and i trusted her and left to proceed to Escourt. Once I got to Escourt we download the app on my wifes phone also and we both register ourselves on the app, and we then tried to change the electronic funds transfer limit and it would not allow us to this. The person i was purchasing the car from ,his sister in law is the manager of standard bank in escourt and she said that the app will not allow us to change limits on the same day you have registered yourself on it.
Now I am in Escourt but cannot pay for my vehicle so i tried to get help by phoning family to transfer money for me therefore i can save myself a second trip back to escourt to bring the vehicle down. since i had no luck i had to eventually leave but thank god the seller promised to keep the vehicle for me.
The next morning 23th of September i went on the app and it allowed me to change mine and my wife's transfer limits, but yet another problem was discovered as my wife's credit and cheque card where not linked and the app only allowed her to change her cheque card transfer limit and not her credit card limit as it said must go into a branch to do this. We then went to the atm to check if the cards are linked therefore we can transfer from her credit card to the her cheque card and is was not linked.
I then decided i will transfer R28000 from my credit card into my cheque account and with my salary which made up R42000 which i can then transfer to the seller. We then drew out R10000 from my wife's credit card to give to the seller as cash. The seller brought the vehicle down for us as he had a friend that was willing to take him back to escourt. I had to compensate his friend R500 for fuel and toll road fees which was money wasted from my side as the vehicle i purchased had half tank petrol in it on the 22nd on September when i first went up for it, therefore there was no cost for the vehicle that I purchased to be brought down
My complaints against the lady that help us is as follows: 1. She was really unfriendly and was just trying to get rid of us quickly. 2. Due to her poor service i looked and felt like an *********** person. 3. Due to her poor service the entire exercise cost me R500 fuel, R50 airtime cost, and also cash withdrawal fee to draw the R10000 from my wife's credit card. The worst expense was all my time wasted. 4. My wifes card were not linked.
I would like Standard bank to at least refund all loses i have incurred and strict action be taken against the standard bank employee who obviously has no idea what she is doing.
I do not have the employees name but I am sure if my wifes ID number is brought up , the bank will be able to see who helped us.
I will appreciated a quick response as this is unacceptable.
