Poor Service
INTRODUCTION I was under debt review from 2009 - the person stole from me and disappeared. My case was transferred to another company and eventually another until eventually I found a company that could sort the mess. The last company eventually recommended sequestration in 2018, which I then did. COVID happened inbetween, but I was then sequestrated, app**** for rehabilitation and was granted rehabilitation.
CURRENT SITUATION After being rehabilitated, the lawyer sent a list of email addresses that I had to send the rehabilitation certificate to. I immediately sent the documents. These companies included Experian and Transunion. I received an email from Transunion saying that their records were updated. For a while I was fine and then my daughter needed to purchase a vehicle and I had to assist her, only to find out that I was still red flagged. I went through about a three month process in the beginning of 2025 to once again rectify the matter.
The companies that are now a problem: 1. Standard Bank From getting mixed messages to upgrading my account and fetching my account card to then hear that it wasn't linked and that I should wait 48 hours - every time, over and over again 48 hours; to hearing that I do not qualify for credit because I had a credit card and Revolving Credit with them pre-sequestration and rehabilitation - and now they refuse to consider me for further credit. I do realise that it is their right to refuse credit - but my situation is very different from what it was 18 years ago when this whole mess started. I was also told by the local branch that I can not get a credit card because I don't have credit - very confusing as I am trying to open the credit card to build a credit profile and I do not want clothing store cards etc. I was also told that I have "no accounts", which leads to a low credit score - I do have accounts - Vodacom and insurance! My question is then also - does Standard Bank then have a POLICY of punishing clients and thus have no clients who have gone through sequestration and rehabilitation? Once again it also came to light that there were still red flags on my profile, which I have spent countless hours trying to have removed, by Experian and the NCR.
2. Experian I initially had very good service with Experian, with the promise that they would update my credit profile and emails stating that the profile had been updated. But once again, the profiles are not being updated. Just for "fun" I went to Capitec to try and open a Credit Card, and after numerous attempts last week and the week before the profile has not been updated and their system shows to contact Experian - who stated that all is clear on their side and the banks have to update.
In conclusion I am at the end of my tether. This has been 18 years of a struggle to do the right thing and just when I thought everything would be sorted I get blocked around every corner. No matter what I have tried, the continual waiting period, hours spent on the phone and general poor service has been shocking.
