Poor Service again
You can always rely on Standard Bank-- to let you down.!! In 2014 Standard Bank allowed my mother to be relieved of all of her funds and despite my challenges , they never admitted it. That year she gave my Power of Attorney at the bank along with a General Power of Attorney. Now at 97 year old and having had an account at Standard Bank for 77 years,, they continue to make unrealistic demands of her. I live in Ballito and she is in a frail care centre in Heidelberg. Her debit card which i hold expired so I took all the documentation into the Ballito Branch and was told that my mother has to come in herself as on the original POA, the bank official who completed the form for her ticked" NO" in the wrong place. An official from the home in which she resides went to the Heidelberg branch and explained the situation. There is no way that my bedridden mother could go into the bank. They advised that she sign a letter explaining that I can collect the card for her. This was done> Again I am told that she has to visit the bank herself. It would appear that I should just close the account but occasionally she receives a pension pay-out from Zimbabwe and it has to be paid into a Standard Bank account. The other option is that I open a Std Bank account so that I can transfer any funds into it. There is no way that I would allow myself to OPEN A STANDARD BANK ACCOUNT> All this hassle and the account never has more than R 700 in it!!!
