Poor Service

As a member of a church who deals with the church's finances I have been totally embarrassed by Standard Bank. The church changed signatories a week ago and all was provided save for a letter which was produced after the 1 1/2 hours spent in the bank changing signatories. A business card was issued. For a week I have been unable to use Internet Banking as the "new" and "old" sites would not accept the user name and/or password and/or card PIN. Calling at the bank today I was informed all documents had to be sent to Durban and they were not yet received and therefore could not use Internet Banking. Asking to see a manager the reply was what do you expect him to do. I approached a business banker who certainly knew her work and very quickly she found the problem to be my mobile number being incorrectly loaded by the bank. This was rectified and can now operate on Internet Banking. Returning home today staff pay had to now be paid urgently. Well ................ This could not be done as the bank has not loaded the payment limit. On the "new" web site one can only increase the limit. So no salaries paid and unhappy staff. I wonder what the bank staff would do not receiving their pay?? Throughout the entire marathon of changing signatories for a week I have tried contacting 0 ********** without success. This has been during the day and also in the evening. One only hears a tape advising high call numbers. Even at 20:45 of an evening!! The longest I held on was for over 5 minutes. This should be made a free call to customers as the bank would then do something about the tardy answering of telephones in a call centre. To make matters worse it was suggested the account be transferred to another bank and I did my best and managed to retain the account at Standard Bank. How embarrassing for me. Over the road from this branch is another bank and signatories were changed within 3/4 hour and all was up and running the following day. What great service they gave. Again back to the branch tomorrow again for more poor service to try and get a limit in place. By the way before the signatories were changed there was a limit for EFT payments. The letter mentioned above also included a paragraph for the limit to be increased! In view of all what has had to be endured the bank should refund petrol as each return trip to the bank is 57 kms. It is doubtful if the bank would do such seeing customer care seems to have now been dropped. Where are the good old days many years back where staff took pride in their work and excelled with service. Competition well done to you and see you soon.
