Poor ***** prevention process

I received an email from standard bank Vehicle and asset finance stating that I have app**** for credit. This was a surprise because I have never done business with std bank . Then I called them to launch a compliant and I was told there is nothing they can do about it. The application will proceed even though I'm making them aware that someone is impersonating me and is about to ***** them. I don't get how as a big institution like that they don't have ways of putting a status on the application so that it's not processed until proper investigation is done.
