Poor Deceased estate handling by a big bank
Never ever have any kind of will drawn up with standard bank , or even have them handle any kind of estates with the passing of a loved one.
My grandfather passed away in February of this year his will is barely 2 pages long and his estate is so simple that it shouldn't have taken nearly a year to wrap up.
Added to this the appointed executor took a months leave for a hip operation ,how does an executor with knowledge of an upcoming surgery still claim to work and take leave for over a month?
Also the lack of communication until we have sent numerous emails inquiring about the process and each response is a different reason as to why it is delayed and now the blame is being placed on SARS. With lack of empathy for the family as well as the arrogance of an executor is appaling.
This is why people bank with other banks such as ABSA Who could resolve a highly complicated estates in 4 months and that's a fact as that was my grandmother's estate.
The entire family and all of our friends and contacts will be made wary to deal with standard bank as they ensure to take the longest time with an estate as well as to find various ways to charge the family by bringing in accountants at the expense of my grandfather's estate.
Sad to say one of South Africa's oldest banks with the absolute slowest customer service in various areas.
