Pathetic service and what looks like inside *****
My iPhone was ****** on the morning of 5 July and hacked that evening. I asked Standard Bank to remove the phone as the trusted device and lock down my accounts on the night of 5 July (current) and on the morning of 6 July (Bond - home loans don't work in the evening). On both calls in to lock the accounts I specifically asked if there was any sign of *****, tampering anything at all and was assured there was none. That weekend I had a payment into the account and noticed the balance was horribly wrong. Called ***** and yip AFTER locking down the account funds were removed from the current account and funds moved from the home loan to try and ***** those too.
We are now a month in and after numerous calls the answer just stays the same - no feedback yet sir. Standard Bank allowed the funds to move from already locked down accounts and they still cannot give me any feedback at al?
Today I called just on 17H00 and this was the result:
Called *** and recording says ***** close at 16H30 please send email to ******** email sent but bounced back
Called *** and recording says ***** close at 17H00 please send and email to query*****@standardbank.co.za email sent and so far has not come back
And I am supposed to be happy to continue to entrust my access bond and current account with Standard Bank?

The process for CAPITEC is logged with Ombudsman for Banking Service...... and this is my post on Facebook in which I have tagged both Capitec and Standard Bank. If I get the same treatment from Standard Bank (where their systems allowed ***** POST locking down the accounts then I will be logging a case with OBS about this too.

Modus Operandi used by the hacker and ***** happens to have been almost identical to what happened with Capitec. In both cases funds went to Bidvest Bank and from here were extracted using a host of R2000/R3000 Cash Send Me transactions. All of this takes time but there are some interesting observations here
- The ****** phone landed up in Bank City
- The ****** phone was HACKED in Bank City
- Funds landed up with Bidvest
- In the Capitec instance we called to block the account literally as the first transaction was happening.
- The account was blocked and then on the same call the Capitec ***** Desk person blocek a further 5 family members Capitec accounts and returned to check my account at the end of the call. Despite the account having been blocked the *****ster managed to get another transaction to happen on the BLOCKED account and move the funds from Capitec to Capitec and then on to Bidvest - DESPITE THE ACCOUNT BEING BLOCKED FOR THE SECOND TRANSACTION!!!
- Capitec ***** sent an “URGENT” message to Bidvest ***** to BLOCK all funds in the chain……. I have made the point over and over again that this messaging “system” is totally useless and a bit like my teenage and young adult kids. When you ask them what time do I fetch you the answers is always I have not had a message back to I my WhatsApp about that yet. Gone are the days when people pick up a phone and ASK and or INSTRUCT a bank to actually block the funds and confirm that they have actually done it.
- The funds removed from Standard bank and transferred from my home loan were moved POST blocking and locking down the account - again, just like with Capitec this is very disturbing seen as the phone was hacked inside the Bank City complex and makes it smell of a syndicate with a little help from friends in the banks.
- I can go on and give you more horrific detail but I shall stop now and just thank Standard Bank for standing up and being counted by saying we believe there were serious idssues on our sides and we have made good by refunding you the ****** funds in full.
Well done Standard Bank.
Capitec, now order 2 months later, are still ”investigating”. They also seem to be ignoring the Ombudsman for Bankings dread line of 13 September before the matter moves to the next level.
