Over charging payment on Credit card.

My name is Pemla Dimana,

I have app**** for credit in 2010, I have not used the card since 2012 and did not re-apply for, a new card. I would like to understand why I have been paying the credit card for more than 8 yrs, was advised that I only paid R2300.00 only for credit card owing R9000. 00, According to my calculations I have alread paid over R22 000. 00 for this credit card. That is double the amount I am owing, this does not make sense.

Can someone make me understand what is happening. The amount I have been paying is what was stipulates by the bank. When I enquired why this card is still deducting, I was advised that I am only paying the minimum amount, Which I do understand even though I am paying the minimum amount this card should be fully paid by now.

Cannot keep paying for this credit for 20 yrs as though I am paying a bond. I have used credit cards and fully paid them with other banking institutions and have never experienced such even though I was paying a minimum amount which was stipulated by the institution.
