Online / Telephone *****

On the 24th April 2017, I was a victim of telephone ***** and money was removed from my account. I then went to the nearest branch to stop my account. The consultant connected me to the Standard bank ***** division which advised that I should report the incident at the police station and submit the report to them, which I did. On Friday 28th April, a lady from Std bank's ***** division contacted me telephonically. She then started to ask leading questions of what happened on the day. The manner in which she asked was very unproffessional and rude, the only thing that she wanted to prove was that I was negligent. She later called and told me that Standard bank will not be liable for the incident.

My concerns are, the lady did not mention anything regardig what Standard did to investigate the incident. Two cellphone numbers appear on my statement and there was no mention as to what the bank did to track and trace those numbers. I am very concerned as to what processes the bank follow when confronted with such incidents. However it is very clear that the bank's priority is not to suffer any loss. The customer is not important at all. How can the bank conclude a ***** case over the phone?

I am closing my account with Standard having been a loyal customer for over 10 years.
