We contacted Standard Bank to apply for the Energy Bounce bank loan scheme that has the 20% guarantee from government and interest rate of prime +2.5(this loan is to purchase a solar system). We were informed that people over the age of 64 can not apply for this unsecured loan as the is a compulsory loan protection(I am 66 years old). We were offered instead a regular unsecured personal loan which obviously has a higher interest rate but clearly does'nt have a "compulsory loan protection). Pensioners must clearly get fleeced or stay in the dark.
