not informed on change in interest rate

I went to increase my standard bank rcp. I was given an extra +- R3000 added to my loan. After I got the loan I paid what I needed the money for then it dawned on my why did my repayments increase so much. I was shown the increase in installments but was not informed of the increase in interest rate, which increased the interest my entire loan not just the amount I app**** for on Monday. I went into Standard Bank on Tuesday and was told to re pay the entire amount by today Thursday the 16th July. As it is the middle of the month and the reason I went to get a loan from Standard bank is because I needed money. I was not able to pay the money back by today even though I really tried to pay it back. I am now sitting with a very large loan at a very high interest does the consumer protection act not protect me. Yes standard bank did give me a few days to pay it back but with it not being month end and only having a few days to get the money I am put in a difficult situation. If I knew my interest rate would increase by +- 7 percent I would not have taken the loan.
