No-one home
My Complaint is this - for things that are not branch related there is simply no-one beyond a junior level at the Standard Bank to communicate with(if you are lucky) and an absolute lack of interest by management.

I am a conveyancer trying to transfer a property that requires the co-operation of the bond -holder who is the Standard Bank. I have been trying for two months to find someone capable, or at least interested, to communicate with. It seems that the management either don't exist or don't want to be bothered and the complaints department are of no use either. This is not the only matter that I am waiting on and I have canvassed some colleagues who say that they are similarly frustrated. One has been waiting four months for something that should take a few days.

By comparison the government departments that one has to deal with in the conveyancing process, ie the Deeds Office, Sars and the Master's office seem excellent by comparison. The bank staff seem to hide behind call centres and fax addresses and you simply can't find anyone to engage with.

As conveyancers we are not acting for ourselves but for clients who are the bank's customers.

Ken Meek

Thank you for your email advising that the Bank's attorneys have now received instructions.
