No accountability for making a bad situation worse

On 23 February I contacted the call centre and informed them that, for the first time in 20+ years, I might have difficulty in making my end-Feb bond payment. They agreed that I could skip my end-Feb payment and make a double payment at the end of March. As I pay by debit order, they undertook to adjust the debit order accordingly. All good I thought - BOY WAS I WRONG! Instead of skipping the Feb payment they debited my account with a DOUBLE PAYMENT putting me over my limit and resulting in other payments being rejected. When I phoned them (understandably irate) the best they could offer is that they will reverse the debit order (no indication of when). When I insisted on escalating the issue, I was assured that a manager would phone me back. Of course the promised phone call didn't happen - they never do. When I subsequently phoned and insisted on speaking to a manager I got the usual call centre run-around - Call 1: just left on hold for over 5 minutes and then cut off, Call 2: cut off immediately and call 3: \all the managers are in a meeting\". When will call centre staff learn? We're not all idiots and we know they're lying about the meetings. Std Bank Home Loans - you suck!"
