Nightmare on my vehicle sale.

Good day,

I must express disdain on how my vehicle sale is being handled by Standard Bank.

I’ve been trying to sell my current vehicle since the start of the year, which is financed by Standard Bank VAF.

I found a buyer immediately but it took Standard Bank 3 weeks to finally provide a settlement letter after following up numerous times. In the final week of January 2026 they sent an email stating that the vehicle’s January debit order had already been sent for processing so they can only send the settlement in the first week of February. My first issue is that the January debit order wouldn’t have been up for discussion if the bank had just sent me the settlement letter at the start of January as I had requested because the car would’ve been sold by then. So you give me the runaround for 3 weeks and then in the last week of the month you want to use the debit order as the scapegoat for not furnishing the settlement letter? What were you doing in the other weeks?

The second issue is that there’s an offer to purchase on the vehicle which expires today. I had sent the offer to Standard Bank on the same day I received it on 3 February 2026, and a week later, they haven’t accepted it. The vehicle will have a shortfall after the sale and I’ve already signed the acknowledgment of debt which they requested me to do last week.

How difficult is it to compare the amount I got on the offer against the trade value of the vehicle on Transunion (the offer is more than trade value by the way). Surely this cannot be rocket science?

Please may I have the acceptance letter of the sale by end of day today? Otherwise the offer will lapse and we will have to start again and revalue the vehicle in order to get a new offer. That’s time and resources which the bank will not even reimburse.

The consultants handling the sale are Tshepo Manthata and Bronwyne August, and I’m just appalled at the service.
