My experience with the Standard Bank Shyft app.

I recently used Shyft to try and send $150 to the bank account of a trekking guide in Peru. It is a US$ account. Here is what happened. The Standard bank charge to my Shyft account was $14 for the transaction. This is 9.3% of the amount I am trying to send but.... OK. Then the trekking guide informed me that only $126 was credited to his account. On further investigation I was told by the Shyft team that: "The extra charges were intermediary or middle bank charges." And "The 24$ was charged by the intermediary bank." And "The charge is up to the middle bank. Unfortunately we do not have control over it. Such charges can be expected on payments as explained in our Ts and Cs." So of the $164 that this exercise cost me, $38 or 23% went for bank charges and the recipient didn't receive the intended amount.

It was 14 days ago that my "concerns were escalated to our management team" and I have heard nothing more. Is your Official business reply above just a sop to make other viewers thing that something is being done or are you actually going to get back to me and tell me why the fees and charges on my attempt to transfer $150 to someone in Peru were so absurdly high?
