Moving backward into the dark ages

My husband and I recently decided to move our accounts over to Standard Bank due to my husband qualifying for staff rates being a Liberty employee. Much to our disappointment this was excruciatingly difficult.

We first contacted SB in Feb and I first heard back on the 9th of March. My account was subsequently opened and was told I would be contacted by my "Prestige" banker. This happened on the 01 JULY! Susan Baphela contacted me and subsequently asked me to provide the same documents I had provided some months prior, which I still provided on 4th of July.

She then contacted me telephonically to chat about my account where I requested her about an overdraft facility as well as delivering my card to Bedfordview which is closest to me. She had responded that she will get back to me with regards to my overdraft as I explained I would like to move my account from FNB. I received no feedback from her. The 11th July I received a text requesting me to collect my card from FOURWAYS CROSSING! I subsequently could only pick my card up this past weekend and low and behold when I go to speak to Susan, she does not remember me or any of my requests. She then proceeds to tell me that I will not be granted an overdraft facility due to my credit rating and that I should take out a personal loan to pay off my overdraft! When I explained that I cannot move my salary over as how am I going to service my current overdraft? She said she doesn't know.

Not sure how one is supposed to move accounts when the people we rely on as the experts in the field cannot help! Needless to say that I closed my account that took me months to open in the first place as I do not see the sense in paying for a service I am not receiving.

One would assume that gaining clients from a competitor no matter how small is the gain for any company but this does not seem true for SB. I must mention that I have not stepped my foot into any bank before this for atleast 10 years. There has never been a need to. I now see why people are so frustrated in having to do so in this day and age with the technology afforded to us.

Extremely disappointed by the lack of Customer Service!
