MOST DISCUSTING SERVICE

I opened a bank account at Standard bank when I relocatede to Durban in 2006,in 2007 I bought a house and app**** for a bond for R700000.00 from Standard bank, as I didn't have any up to date pay slips I was asked to get someone to stand surity .This I did and the application was approved. I paid the installment by debit order until 2009 when I sold a property up north and transfered R 1.2 mill. I went to my bank and asked them if I could pay the bulk of the loan and leave a small amount in order that the bond would remain active and that I would be able to borrow later if need be. Very sensible they said, so I left a figure of R7000.00 and continued paying the installment by debit order. A few months later my surity was doing a set of management accounts and asked me if he could withdraw the surity seeing there was such a small amount left and I went to the bank and got a letter releasing him of his obligation.

In October 2016 I aproached the bank to set up an access bond and I duly filled in and signed the relative forms, the consultant did ask me if I was married in community of property and I assured her I was married by anti-nuptual contract so she submitted the forms to Jhb. A week later I was told that I was married ICP and that my wife had to sign the forms as well. I dug out my (Rhodesian) marriage licence and went to the bank. I informed them that Iwas not married ICP and that my wife never signed on the original loan application, the consultant talked to home loans on the phone and they said they would need a copy of my marriage licence. This was scanned and emailed while I sat there, the consultant appologised to me and hoped that all would be fine. Blow me down a week later I received an sms informing me that all foreign licences are regarded as ICP (why didn't you say so in the first place) So I took my wife who isn't a well person and the consulted came downstairs to the car for my wife to sign the documents and the application was submitted for the 3rd time. About 10 days later I received an sms asking me to go to my branch and have the a/cs linked as it had been approved. I duly went to the banked supp**** my details and the link was done. When I got back to my office I tried to log on but could not log onto my accounts at all so 2 days later I went back and they managed to link the a/cs but alas a new problem, there was no amount to access. The consultant once again got on the phone to the home loans office to sort it out only to be told that I could only access from the bond if I'd paid in more than the monthly installment. I started losing my sense of humour and got quite irate I asked how I could have a R 6000.00 balance on a R700,000.00 loan if I hadn't paid anything over and above my repayment. It was like drawing blood from a stone bgut I eventually got the story that when my surity withdrew my bond was reduced to R7000.00 BUT THE BOND IS STILL REGISTERED FOR R700,000.00 AND I AM FREE TO APPLY FOR ANOTHER BOND (I still don't get it) but your age might go against you I was told. As far as I'm concerned If I'd known this I would never have left this amount and paid interest on it for the past 7 years . I cannot help but get the feeling that this young lady whoever she is is teaching me a lesson for insisting that I was not married ICp . Either this or the bank have purposely ****** money from me by false pretences ,by allowing me to think that I could have this little avenue open to me if I paid them the interest in the meantime. I know this is not a huge amount of money but it's not the first time Standard bank have taken my money without my permission. Aproximately 2 years ago I noticed I was being charged for an overdraft fee on my bank statement. Iwas very busy expanding my business at the time and didn't get to bank for a while . When I asked what this fee was for I was told that I was given an overdraft by the bank for up to R7000.00.

I told the business banker that I had not asked for an overdraft and as my business banker he should know that apart from the R100,000.00 in my cheque a/c there was at that stage +- R250,000.00 sitting in the stash a/c. I asked how R7000.00 would ever benefit my situation and asked for this to be cancelled and all fees returned to my a/c. There are other incidents with Standard bank that I could bore you with.

My name is Kerry Papalexis Ph. ********** 585.
