Money gone between Absa and Standard. Both claiming they dont have our money

In the 30th of July my husband made a R2500 payment from.his Standard Bank account to my Absa home loan. Upon receiving my absa home loan statement in Aug I realised that the payment did not show. I went to Absa and they told me the account that was used did not exist and that the money must be with Standard bank. My husband went to Standard bank on the 14th of Sep and they made him complete a payment recall letter. To date the money is not back in his account. Both banks claim to not know where the money is. So what the hell. If the money rejected at Absa it should have gone back to Standard Bank. This is disgusting. Where is our money?
