Misinformation and Bad Apples

Standard Bank, although you have bad apples in your business you still have a few that are willing to help a client.

Well this afternoon I experienced the incompetence of one of your bad apples regarding a credit payment.

As Standard Bank is not my main account I transfer just enough funds in every month to pay my debit orders, last month I made 2 credit card payments. The one at the beginning of the month and the 18th of June.

Yesterday 2nd of July I logged onto my internet banking and the app told me I need to make a payment on or before the 18th of July, being someone whom is adamant of keeping a good credit score I decided to make that payment yesterday morning. Later that evening I get a message that states that that amount has been deducted twice, so now I get deducted R60 for insufficient funds.

I called the card division, explained my situation but unfortunately I was transferred to an *********** clerk whom only told me you have a debit order agreement that runs on the first of every month and that I did not receive a SMS stating that I should pay my account and that I know that the debit order will run on the first. Indeed I did not receive a SMS, but I got that information from the banking app that I should make a payment on or before the 18th of July.

I told this *********** clerk that I had good intentions and that I wanted to pay sooner rather than later, seriously Standard Bank, when you employ customer care agents they should be screened and interviewed for the attitude they have towards customers.

I asked if I will get refunded my R60 which was wrongfully deducted as I did pay. He blatantly said I will not get it back and refused to provide a reference number as they apparently do not provide reference numbers. Since when!!!!

Well I hope that this was only a bad apple in you customer care department as I refuse to believe that you as a bank will ***** money from a long standing client.

The bottom of the line is that I did pay my account but it will now negatively reflect on my credit record due to misinformation provided on the Standard Bank internet banking app.
