Loyalty meant nothing when I needed help

In 2023 I fell for a ****, that part is on me. I acted immediately, contacted my private banker, Elenay Kleynhans, and on her advice my account was frozen and a new Standard Bank account was opened.

While the original account was frozen and linked credit products could not be used, Standard Bank still handed me to lawyers for non-payment.

An external ***** partner then spent almost three years on the case and cleared my name. Once cleared, I asked my banker to help close the temporary account, reinstate my card, and reactivate the original account. I sent multiple follow-ups. The only response I received last week was that I am no longer a private client, so they cannot assist, and I should contact a branch.

I was never told that opening the temporary account would remove my private-client status. Standard Bank has also started deducting fees on the frozen account, an account that is not active!!! And my UCount funds have now also disappeared. This is ********* and unacceptable, how do humans treat each other like this?

After more than 16 years with this bank, I am leaving. I want the fees on the frozen account refunded and a written apology for the handling of my case. But even this is probably asking too much.
