Loss of income due to lack of communication from Standard Bank Securities and request for compensation
I placed a sell order on my Sanlam shares at R55.50. However I experienced an emergency and needed cash fast so I sold my shares for R53.40 yesterday, hoping I will just make a phonecall to the call centre the following day to request an early settlement on my account following the prompts on the website as follows: "For all equity, warrants and instalment trades please note ,For early withdrawal of unsettled funds(for a fee of 0.25% with a minimum of R39.90 incl. VAT) please call us on ***during office hours(08:30 AM to 5:30 PM). Note: unsettled funds are only available for withdrawal on business day after the trade. For all futures and CFD trades, proceeds settle overnight. NB there is no early settlement available on the day of trade!" so today when I try to call the call-centre I get an automated response that all agents are working from home and the only communication is via e-mail. Of this information was supp**** on the SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS on the website, I would have been aware and rather look for money elsewhere and then still stick to my sell order which hit this afternoon. For this mess, I have lost well over R1,500 in profits and I request Standard bank to compensate me for this loss. I have sent 3 e-mails today and not a single reply. it is already after 3 so there is no chance that I will get the money today. The least they could have done is divert the callcentre calls to the individual agents. That way they are still able to assist promptly without us as their clients having to suffer.
