LOCKED OUT OF NEW ACCOUNT FOR FICA - NO WARNING

Standard Bank customer care have advised me this morning that due to FICA, I am unable to transact on my account until I visit my branch with my green barcoded ID book. My complaint is that first of all, I received no prior warning of this at all. I received no SMS or email or any such warning that I could be locked out of my account. Secondly, I was at the Bedford Gardens branch, ID Book in hand to link my credit card to my cheque account that I am locked out of. Nothing was said, no warning was given, and the opportunity to FICA was perfect. Thirdly, my account isn't even a year old. I have supp**** countless identification documentation to Standard Bank just recently in order to receive my credit card and of course, open my account. I cannot understand why such a new account would need to be FICA'd so soon. My largest frustration is, how dare Standard Bank lock me out of transacting on my account with NO WARNING. I am not able to visit a branch until the weekend, and now sit without an operating bank account, three days before my Birthday. Thank you, Standard Bank. Disappointed AGAIN.
